Deborah Raphael has over 20 years of experience in environmental policy and government administration, and currently serves as the Director of the Department of Environment for the city of San Francisco, where she has worked for 12 years previously as the Program Director for Toxics Reduction and Green Building. Under her leadership, San Francisco has set ambitious waste reduction and climate targets, has implemented concrete policies to achieve these goals, and has set a path forward on issues like producer responsibility, ending the blight of plastic pollution, and recovering food waste to feed people and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
