Jai Kumar Gaurav

Jai Kumar Gaurav works with Adelphi as an Associate focusing on waste management, resource efficiency, renewable energy, and climate change adaptation. Prior to this, he worked with International Development Enterprises India (IDEI) as Senior Manager for Environmental Services, managing a nationwide Gold Standard-certified program to reduce emissions in the agriculture sector through the use of treadle pumps and drip irrigation. Jai worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as a Research Associate on climate change adaptation and mitigation knowledge products for India. His work at the UNDP also included projects related to energy efficiency and biomass power. He worked with Sindicatum Carbon Capital as CDM Project Officer on CDM and Gold Standard-certified Voluntary Emission Reduction projects, including biomass-to-power, cogeneration in sugar mills, biodiesel, efficient cookstoves, and municipal solid waste management. Jai has also worked on projects related to solar pumping for irrigation, sustainable agriculture, and market linkage for smallholder famers in India.

Jai received a DAAD scholarship to attend a certificate program on renewable energy at the Technical University of Freiburg, Germany. He completed an M.Sc. in Climate Change and Development from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex in the UK, for which he received the Commonwealth Scholarship. He also holds an M.Sc. in Environmental Studies from TERI University in New Delhi, and a B.Sc. in Environment Science, Botany, and Chemistry from the University of Delhi.
